What is the best time for a 3D and 4D ultrasound?
The best photos are usually obtained between 22 and 32 weeks. Some families take advantage of our multiple visit package so they can enjoy seeing their baby at various stages.
Are there any risks to either myself or my unborn baby?
No. Ultrasound uses sound waves to generate images of your baby. No harmful or radioactive agents are utilized in ultrasound procedures. Furthermore, our technician is an ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medial Sonography) licensed sonographer with 10 years of experience in ultrasound.
What is the difference between 2D, 3D and 4D ultrasound?
The 2D ultrasound provides the traditional black and white sonogram image of your unborn baby. A 3D ultrasound is an actual three-dimensional color photograph of your baby, showing vivid details such as facial features and movements. A 4D ultrasound is an actual moving video-like image of your baby.
Why type of imaging machine will be used?
We use only the highest quality, most advanced ultrasound technology available today. The sonogram image clarity of the GE Voluson 730 PRO BT 08 is simply unmatched.
How long does the ultrasound take?
The average ultrasound takes 10 minutes, but it can take up to 45 minutes. Be prepared to spend at least one-hour at your appointment.
Will it hurt?
No, the procedure is completely painless.
What do I need to do to prepare for my ultrasound?
Drink LOTS of water two hours prior to your appointment. This will help improve the image of your baby. Sometimes drinking juice or eating a snack or small meal the hour before your appointment increases your baby’s movement. Be sure to wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing.
May I bring family and/or friends with me?
Absolutely! This is a very special time for you and your baby. We encourage you to bring anyone you would like to be present.
Will this test give me the opportunity to know the gender of my baby?
In most cases, yes. Generally, the sex of a child can be determined with 95% accuracy in a women at least 15 weeks along. We are also sensitive to those who do not wish to know the gender of their baby. In this case, just inform your technician and we adjust the scan to exclude the ability to determine your baby’s gender.
How early can you determine baby’s gender?
Between 15-18 weeks. It also depends on fetal position as well as fetal development.
Please Note: Every baby scans differently, depending on its gestational age, position, amount of fluid, and mother’s condition. We promise to make every effort to obtain the best possible images of whatever parts of the baby that can be seen. There is no free visit for baby’s picture.
